Copyright Ownership
Copyright is an intellectual property right that arises automatically upon the creation of an original work fixed in a tangible form. Authors who publish in Applied Econometrics and International Development retain full copyright over their work. This ensures that researchers receive formal academic recognition for their empirical contributions to the fields of applied econometrics and international development economics.

Rights of Authors
Authors retain complete ownership of their published articles and are free to reuse, adapt, and redistribute their work in books, working paper series, institutional repositories, thesis compilations, or other scholarly outputs — without seeking prior permission from the journal. All such reuse must include a clear citation to the original publication, including the journal name, volume, issue, page range, and DOI reference.

Licensing Terms (CC BY 4.0)
All articles published in this journal are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License. Under this license, any individual or institution may freely copy, distribute, remix, transform, and build upon the published research — including for commercial use — provided that appropriate credit is given to the authors and the journal. This approach actively promotes the widest possible global dissemination of development economics research.

Publisher Rights and Attribution
Applied Econometrics and International Development is recognised as the journal of original publication for all accepted articles. Any reproduction or redistribution of published content — whether in print, digital, or adapted form — must acknowledge the journal as the primary publication source, accompanied by a complete bibliographic citation and active DOI link. This requirement applies to all forms of secondary use, regardless of the medium.

Use, Redistribution and Adaptation
Published articles may be freely shared, downloaded, reproduced, and adapted for academic teaching, policy analysis, research purposes, or commercial applications under the CC BY 4.0 license. Econometric datasets, figures, and tabulated results presented within published articles may also be reused under the same terms. In all cases of reuse or adaptation, full attribution to the original authors and citation to the journal of publication are mandatory.

Publication Agreements and Archiving
Where publication agreements are entered into, Applied Econometrics and International Development ensures that such agreements do not restrict authors from self-archiving their work in institutional repositories, subject repositories such as SSRN or RePEC, or personal academic profiles. Authors are actively encouraged to deposit their accepted manuscripts in recognised open repositories to maximise visibility and scholarly impact, in full alignment with open-access publishing principles.
